About The Danube ExpressThe Danube Express only carries 50 passengers, serving freshly prepared meals using traditional menus and served at a single sitting in the elegant Restaurant car. A subtle blend of modern technology, décor and fixtures create an ambiance, evocative of a bygone era, when elegance and style were quintessential elements of travel. Once on board, guests can relax in the knowledge that everything is taken care of - from champagne receptions and delicious regional cuisine to engaging guides and sightseeing at every stop. Superior Deluxe inc. private bathroom: 93 sq ft / 8.6 m (14’9” long / 4.54 m long); double bed size: 6’2” x 5’0” / 1.90 m x 1.52 m Superior Deluxe cabins with private bathrooms per departure. By day, a full length sofa and two additional chairs. By night, the Super Deluxe cabin is a bedroom with a King (US - nearly Queen / Europe - almost King) bed. The large cabin also has two full-size picture windows; one can be opened.
Super Deluxe cabins have a large double wardrobe with storage space, individual air-conditioning, lighting with dimmer switches, reading lights, Wi-Fi and USB ports, power sockets & safe. Deluxe Suite inc. bathroom: 83 sq ft / 7.74 sq m, twin beds each one 6′ 1″ x 2′ 7.5″ /1.85 m x 0.8 m Deluxe cabin has a private bathroom with a shower, washbasin and WC, heated towel rail, 230v/110v shaver socket, hairdryer & toiletries. By day, two armchairs and a free-standing chair. By night, the Deluxe cabin becomes a bedroom with twin beds. Deluxe cabins have cupboard and a full-length wardrobe with storage space, air-conditioning, lighting with dimmer switches, reading lights, Wi-Fi and USB ports, power sockets & safe. A partially-opening large picture window and full-length mirror enhance the spacious feel. Lounge Car Settle in to the unhurried pace of life on board, amongst the wood panelled walls, softly toned décor, comfortable sofas and seating. A member of staff is on hand from mid-morning until the early hours to assist or serve you with welcome refreshment. Dining Car The elegant yet unpretentious Restaurant car offers a comfortable and informal atmosphere. All meals are served in a single sitting and there is time to relax and enjoy the sense of occasion. Regional specialities are freshly prepared and cooked on board by experienced chefs using local and seasonal ingredients. Menus are composed with care to ensure they appeal to all tastes. Comfortable walking shoes and light waterproof jacket are recommended. For day time, comfortable, smart/casual; for dinner, smart attire. Swiss Rail Spectacular: For Meals served in hotels, guests are asked not to wear shorts, sportswear, hats/caps and sandals. Specifically, for dinner at Badrutt’s Palace on day 6, the hotel has an ‘elegant’ dress code; Gentlemen to wear a jacket; a tie is not required. For ladies, smart dress will be suitable; they do not need formal/evening dress. Gratuities. These are included in the price of the ticket and it is strongly recommended to refrain from offering any.
