Highlights Rovos Dar es Salaam - Cape TownTravel the fertile lands of Tanzania from Dar es Salaam. Enjoy game viewing in the Selous Game Reserve, the largest on the continent and a vision of timeless Africa. Traverse the jungled Udzungwa Mountains and negotiate the dramatic switchbacks, viaducts and tunnels of the escarpment. Pass baobab forests and ascend the Rift Valley to the border, almost exactly the midpoint between Africa’s two Great Rift Valley lakes. Take an optional walk at Makambako. Travel the TAZARA railway line, an engineering tour de force as it passes through remote territory. Enjoy a bush walk and the rock pools at Chishimba Falls. Cross the Kafue Railway Bridge, a 427m-long steel girder truss bridge of 13 spans each at 33m supported on concrete piers. Cross the mighty Zambezi River on Victoria Falls Bridge. Overnight at Victoria Falls Hotel with a sunset cruise on the Zambezi (a variety of recreational activities are available). Travel on one of the world’s longest stretches of straight railway line (114km) between Dete and Gwaai. Enjoy two nights at a lodge in the Madikwe Big Five Reserve with game drives. Tour the headquarters at Rovos Rail Station with lunch. Tour the capital, Pretoria. Traverse the Karoo. Tour Kimberley, the Diamond Mine Museum and the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole. Visit Matjiesfontein, a quaint and perfectly preserved Victorian village. See the museum and collection of vintage cars and classic railway carriages. Travel through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic winelands of the Cape.
