Introduction

The British Pullman takes its name from George Mortimer Pullman, an American, who in 1864 built The Pioneer, the first railway carriage designed with true comfort for the passenger.

The later creation of the Pullman Car Company in 1882 led to his domination of luxury train travel in the US and later, Great Britain.

Rail cars based on the principles of full-service Pullman rail travel were included in many trains across Europe.

After a period of decline in the second half of the twentieth century, the Venice-Simplon Orient Express led the way in introducing the travelling public to the delights of luxury trains once again.

A steam hauled round trip through the British countryside, full of nostalgia and good food, normally departing from London Victoria at 12.25hrs.

The day trip includes a 5 course lunch with champagne and a half bottle of wine per person.   The round trip lasts just under 4 hours, non-stop, and returns by about 16.10hrs.

Murder Mystery Lunch on the British Pullman

From £295 per person

There has been a murder on board; can you solve the case before it’s too late?  During the murder mystery train tour, you’ll enjoy a 5-course meal with champagne and a half bottle of wine.

The train normally departs London Victoria at 11.45hrs  and is expected back at London Victoria by 16.40hrs.

There are no opportunities to disembark – so solve the mystery fast!

Arguably one of the great highlights of the Pullman service is its dining, created and led by Executive Head Chef Matthew Smith since 2002.

There is simply nothing to rival exceptional food in marvellous surroundings.

Menus change depending upon the supply of seasonal ingredients.  We can provide details of the current menus to help you in your decision to book the British Pullman.

Prices vary from £195 to £595 depending upon the journey you choose.

Dress Code

Dress code varies according to the journey.  Smart casual for the day  and smart attire for the evening.    Please note that travellers  are asked  not to wear jeans or trainers.
