The Golden Chariot is your ticket into the timelessness of Karnataka, an historic Indian state.
The Train is a 'chariot' formed by craftsmen. Rich culture, palatial architecture and the detailing of temples are blended in the carriage interiors of this regal Train with the finest modern facilities.
The Golden Chariot takes you through the Karnataka landscape, which the empire-builders of the past considered heavenly.
The Golden Chariot has 19 specially-designed coaches. There are 11 passenger cars. The design of the cabins is inspired and draws from the Mysore and Belur Halebid schools of art and architecture. The bedspreads are hand-woven by artisans, the guardians of age-old traditions.
The cars have been named after the dynasties that ruled Karnataka (Kadamba, Hoysala, Rastrakuta, Ganga, Chalukya, Bhahamani, Adhilshahi, Sangama, Shathavahna, Yudukula, Vijayanagara), the birds of Karnataka (Kajana, Kogile, Minchulli, Marakata, Navilu) and Karnataka's cultural icons (Jambusavari, Dasara, Nandi).
The Cabins
All cabins have en-suite attached bathrooms as well as air-conditioning, wi-fi wireless internet and plasma TV.
The cabins have hand-carved wooden panels on roof and wall panels, hand-woven silk bed sheets like the Maharajas of Mysore, and furniture inspired by the architecture of Mysore and Hoysala.
The Dining Cars - Nala
The two restaurants are designed in the style of Belur and Hampi, catering to vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
The Lounge Car - Madira
The Belur-inspired lounge bar offers the finest collection of wines and sprits. Passengers watch performances of local artisans in the lounge car.
The Conference Car & Ayurveda Spa
The Golden Chariot Conference Car is equipped with state-of-the-art conference facilities and services, seating up to 30 delegates. It can also be used for private family gatherings & meals.
The Ayurveda Centre has a spa and state-of-the-art gym.
