Bibi Ka Maqbara - a son's tribute to his mother

Maharashtra has, during five thousand years, seen various dynasties rule over the Deccan Plateau: Rashtrakutas, Vakatakas, Satvahanas, Shilaharas, Chalukyas, Yadavas, Marathas, Portuguese and British.

All these dynasties have left their mark in monuments, heritage sites, wadas, palaces, churches, temples, synagogues and mosques.

Maharashtra has many wild life sanctuaries, four National Parks, numerous religious sites, places of scenic beauty, scores of beaches, thousands of forts and a unique culture depicted in folk arts, colourful festivals, cuisine and handicraft.

The Deccan Odyssey provides a glimpse of all this in seven days, a display of Maharashtra, known as 'the Great State'.

The Deccan Odyssey has 21 carriages, of which 13 are passenger cars accommodating 8 passengers per carriage.

There are 11 carriages with 4 coupés per carriage and 2 Presidential Suite carriages with 2 coupés per carriages. The train has a total capacity of just 80 guests.
